Defeating Disappointment
Defeating disappointment was one of the larger obstacles that Luke faced throughout this project. He had to learn to get back up again every time his plans failed, which is impressive. One obstacle that he calls the “counter-top fails” turned into a big moment for him when he decided to make use of colored glass beneath the lacquer surface and it did not go as he planned. After pouring the lacquer, it ran over onto everything as it was far too watery.

A Better Plan
While most would have given up after this kind of failure, Luke decided to make the most of the mistake and changed his plan. He used the lacquer to create a bond to fix the countertop onto the wall and attached a standard countertop instead. This plan covered up his mistake and he also added a hinge so that the countertop can lift up and promote space. As you can see from the picture, Luke was incredibly proud of his intelligent designs and quick thinking.
